Turn up the heat on your work out
this spring and summer!

The weather is getting warmer and exercising outside provides a great change of pace (and scenery!). Here are a few tips to keep in mind for your warmer-weather work outs:

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing to allow your skin to breathe, and pay attention to your body — if you feel overheated, slow down a bit.
  • If you walk or run outside, do it in the morning or evening, and never during the hottest part of the day. You should also try to exercise on cooler surfaces like grass, dirt trails, or light-colored pavement.
  • Wear sunscreen! Pick up a waterproof or sport variety, so you don't sweat off all that SPF protection!
  • Switch it up with a new activity, such as hiking, canoeing, biking, or rollerblading. Swimming is a fantastic summer workout — it'll keep you cool and refreshed as you burn those calories!
  • Most importantly, stay hydrated! Drink water before, during, and after your workout.

When you keep it healthy, exercising outdoors is a fantastic way to take advantage of beautiful weather. So take it outside, and smile — it's summer!
