Double Berry Fruit Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 fl. oz.) bottle Smucker's® Strawberry Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • OR 2 cups frozen strawberries, partially thawed

Directions

  • Step 1

    Use any other variety of Smucker's® fruit flavored syrup such as Blueberry, Red Raspberry, Blackberry or Boysenberry.

  • Step 3

    COMBINE syrup and cornstarch in small saucepan with wire whisk. Heat on medium high until mixture begins to boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

  • Step 4

    STIR in lemon peel, lemon juice and butter. Cool to room temperature. Transfer to serving bowl.

  • Step 5

    FOLD prepared fruit gently into sauce. Serve immediately over pound cake, angel food cake or ice cream.

  • Step 7

    FOLLOW steps 1 and 2 above.

  • Step 8

    COOL sauce for 10 minutes. Stir in partially thawed fruit. Let set until fruit is thawed, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 9

    SERVE as suggested above.
