  • Step 1

    HEAT oven to 350°F. Coat 13 x 9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

  • Step 2

    COMBINE brown sugar, shortening, peanut butter and egg in large bowl. Beat with mixer on medium speed until well blended.

  • Step 3

    STIR flour, salt and baking soda in medium bowl until blended. Gradually blend into creamed mixture. Beat in oats.

  • Step 4

    DIVIDE dough in half. Press one half into bottom of prepared pan to form a crust. Spoon preserves over crust, spreading evenly. Crumble remaining dough over preserves to cover evenly.

  • Step 5

    BAKE 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars.
